Mikhail Mikhailovich Mesheryakov commanded the 136th Rifle Division of the 3rd Guards Army of the 1st Ukrainian Front.
==Biography==
Mikhail Mesheryakov was born in the city of Taganrog in a worker's family. Served in the Red Army in 1918-1925. Participant of the Russian Civil War. Member of the All-Union Communist Party since 1931. In 1937 graduated from the Moscow college of history, philosophy and literature, and lectured in a college in Moscow.
Enrolled the Red Army again after the start of the German invasion of the Soviet Union in 1941. In 1942 attended advanced training courses for commanding stuff.
Colonel Mesheryakov was commander of the 136th Rifle Division of the 3rd Guards Army of the 1st Ukrainian Front, and in 1944 he organized a break-through of the German defense lines in Gorokovsky district (Volyn Oblast).
September 23, 1944 the presidium of the Supreme Soviet awarded Mikhail Mesheryakov with the title of Hero of Soviet Union, an Order of Lenin and the medal Gold Star.
